CARNE ASADA MARINADE
Part fridge clean-out, part delicousness. I love doing this for build-your-own-bowl nights with a variety of sides. I think the most important part of this recipe is time. This is a meal you want to plan ahead. The actual labor part of the mairnation is extremely easy and should take no longer than 5-10 minutes. But waiting overnight for the seasonings to penetrate the steak is CRUCIAL!
Ingredients:
Flank steak
1 tbsp Soy sauce
Bunch of Cilantro
1 Jalapeno
Splash of Beer
2-3 Garlic cloves
1 tsp Salt, Pepper, Oregano, Cayenne
1 tbsp Brown Sugar
1 Shallot
Juice & zest of 1 Orange and 1 Lime
DIRECTIONS:
Combine all ingredients in a ziploc bag (adjust to your preferences) and massage into meat.
Marinate for 24 hours for best results. For instant preparation, marinate for no less than 1 hour and then prepare.
For best results I prefer to grill, but you can prepare it just as good in a hot cast iron or skillet.
Heat up grill to high. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until meat reaches medium rare (or your desired temperature). Let rest for 5 minutes and then serve. For my grilling for beginners guide click here!
I serve this with a variety of sides but my go to is roasted corn elote style, my famous guacamole, and cilantro lime rice. Check out those recipes here!
